The Judith Glick Buckman Fund for the Future is delighted to announce the recipient of our 2023 Celebrating Women’s Voices Award will be Rebecca Traister.

Rebecca Traister, writer at large for New York Magazine, has written about women from a feminist perspective for The New Republic, Elle, and Salon and has contributed to The Nation, New York Observer, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.

Her first book, Big Girls Don’t Cry, a New York Times Notable Book of 2010, argues that 2008 was the year, “in which what was once called the women’s liberation movement found thrilling new life” because of the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton.

All the Single Ladies: Unmarried Women and the Rise of an Independent Nation, a New York Times best-seller and Notable Book of 2016, has been described as a “well-researched, deeply informative examination of women’s bids for independence, spanning centuries”.

Rebecca’s third New York Times best seller, Good and Mad: The Revolutionary Power of Women’s Anger was published in 2018. Most recently, she has written about the civil rape verdict against Donald Trump which awarded E. Jean Carroll $5 million.

In addition, Rebecca has written about Stacy Abrams, the fight to make abortion rights the centerpiece of the Democratic party’s 2024 agenda, how decades of silence left us unprepared for the post-Roe fight, and “how it shouldn’t have come down to her” [Ruth Bader Ginsburg].

The JGB Fund for the Future’s 2023 Celebrating Women’s Voices event will be held via zoom.
